Arriving at Croydon Theory Test Centre

By public transport

The nearest train station to the Croydon theory test centre is East Croydon, which is only a 3-minute walk away. Alternatively, if you’re coming from West Croydon station, it’ll take you a similarly speedy 10 minutes to get to the test centre on foot.

Taking the bus instead? Not a problem. You’ll find that the Fairfield Halls bus stop is just across the road from where you’ll be taking the test—handy or what? And, finally, if buses and trains don’t quite cut the mustard, you also have the option of a tram. Wellesley Road tram stop is only a 3-minute walk from the test centre. Talk about spoilt for choice!

For more information on Croydon’s transport links, head over to the Croydon Council website.

By car

Getting to the test centre by car is also an option, of course. If you’re lucky enough to get a lift (or are paying for a taxi), just get the driver to tap CR0 1PE into the sat nav and hit the road! The test centre is adjacent to both the A232 and A212, so it’s likely you’ll end up on one of these major roads.

Those from the Greater London area probably don’t need to be told (but here we go) that during rush hour this area can be chock-a-block with traffic. Leave plenty of time for the journey so you don’t risk missing your allotted test time!

Parking

As is quite common of these places, the theory test centre does not provide on-site parking. Fret not, though—there are some options nearby that won’t completely drain your bank account. Croydon Central (CR0 2AA) is a multi-storey car park just a 5-minute walk from the test centre. For £6.20 you can get 2 hours of parking. You could also try the Whitgift car park (CR9 1AT) located at Centrale Shopping Centre. It’s 5 minutes away and charges exactly the same price.

Pass Rates by Year

Coming in at just below the national average, Croydon theory test centre’s pass rates have admittedly experienced a bit of a slump over recent years, but in 2019-20 it started to rise again and has been performing even better since then.

It’s important not to put too much emphasis on pass rates when it comes to selecting a theory test centre. The test is going to be exactly the same no matter where you take it. Pass rates are only really a reflection of the skills of the individuals who happened to take their test in the area. It would only be a cause for concern if they were alarmingly low. So—good to know, but not really much of an issue here...
