Arriving at Driffield Theory Test Centre

By public transport

The theory test centre is less than half a mile from Driffield train station, which means if you arrive by rail it’ll only take you 6 minutes to get to your test! It’s still always a good idea to leave yourself plenty of time, though, so that you can get settled in before the test actually begins.

If you’re more of a bus person, the closest stops to Class Hall are Driffield Middle St South and Driffield Market Place. They’re a 2 and 4-minute walk from the test centre, respectively. For more detailed transport information, including times and routes, consult the East Yorkshire Motor Services or the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership websites.

By car

Prefer to have full control over the journey and drive to the theory test centre? Simply tap YO25 6QW into your trusty sat nav and follow the directions given. On most routes, you’ll likely end up on the A614, which cuts between Little Driffield and Driffield itself. The centre is in the middle of a suburban enclave, so keeping an eye on street signs will help you avoid getting lost. You can turn on to King Street from both Middle Street and Beck Side—so look out for these in particular.

Parking

As the centre sits at the edge of a residential area, you’ll probably struggle to find a free parking spot on the street, so it’s best to set off with a particular car park in mind. The closest one to the theory test centre is Beckside car park, where you’ll be charged £2 for 2 hours. Handily, it’s only a 3-minute walk to the centre. For those who really love a bargain, the best option is East Gate car park. It’s a slightly longer 5-minute walk to the centre, but you get 2 hours of parking for free!

Pass Rates by Year

There’s no avoiding it—at first glance, Driffield’s pass rate is a bit all over the place. Do not be alarmed. The up and down numbers are mostly down to sample size and the fact that it is a fairly new test centre. For 2017/18, the number of people who took their test in Driffield is not available, which means it was relatively small. This can result in extreme pass rate figures, as one person’s result has a much larger effect on the overall average. And, as you can see from the 2019-20 figure, the situation is rapidly improving! Every test centre provides the same test, anyway—the pass rate is not a signal of how likely you are to pass here.
