Arriving at Aylesbury Theory Test Centre

By public transport

Now that you know where the test centre is, let’s talk about how you’re going to get there. If you’re not lucky enough to either live in Aylesbury or have someone offer you a lift to the test, it’s likely that public transport is on the agenda. Luckily, you have a couple of options to pick from here.

Let’s start with rail travel. From Aylesbury train station it will take you just over half an hour to walk to the test centre. While this is a fine choice for some, we understand that some of you may not be up for spending that much time on foot before a big test.

Never fear—there are also buses here! The Brimmers Way bus stop is only a 5-minute walk from the test centre. Alternatively, you can also hop off at the Arncott Way or Griffith Lane Roundabout stops for a still-fairly-reasonable 7-minute walk.

To find out more about transport in and around Aylesbury, head over to the Aylesbury Town Council website.

By car

If you don’t need to consider public transport because someone is driving you to your theory test, then this is the section for you. Get things off to a good start by having the driver enter the postcode HP19 8HL into a sat nav.

Following the instructions should be fairly straightforward and problem-free, but it’s still worth keeping an eye out for signs directing you to the Midshires Business Park. Once you spot the Tesco Extra store, you’re in the right place!

Parking

As soon as you arrive at the Aylesbury theory test centre you’ll notice that it’s surrounded by a large number of parking spaces. Don’t get your hopes up, though, because these spots are actually not available to the public.

To make matters worse, the nearest car park available for theory test takers is a 37-minute walk away. That’s the Friarscroft car park (HP20 2SE), where you’ll be charged £3 for 2 hours of parking. At least the price is reasonable!

If you’re willing to risk it, you could take advantage of the free parking spaces available at the nearby Tesco, but these are intended for customer use only. Your other option is to have whoever’s driving you drop you off and come back to pick you up once the test is over.

Pass Rates by Year

Sure, the pass rates at the Aylesbury test centre recently took a dip, but they're heading in the right direction again and sit above the national average! It should also be noted that most test centres across the UK experienced a drop in their pass rate during the 2018-19 period.

As we always say, how you do on the theory test has little to do with the centre’s pass rate and a lot to do with how much revision you do beforehand. Focus more on your studying than the stats!

Hotels

Getting a good night’s sleep is a great way to ensure you’re in the best mood to sit your theory test. So, if you’re travelling to Aylesbury from out of town, it’s worth considering booking a night at a local hotel, rather than commuting in on the day. Check out some nearby options:

Travelodge Aylesbury ★★☆☆☆

For those on a tight budget this Travelodge is probably the best option. It’s a 10-minute drive from the test centre (taxi time!) and the room rates won’t break the bank. You’ll also find it a quick walk from the train station, so perfect for those travelling in and out by rail. As for your room, you can expect a large, comfy bed, Freeview TV and your very own desk (perfect for that last-minute revision you were planning on doing!).

Best Western Garden Court ★★★☆☆

If you’re happy to loosen the purse strings just a little more, you could instead head over to the local Best Western. It’s a similar distance from the test centre as the Travelodge above, but boasts slightly more desirable amenities. We’re talking free WiFi, an on-site restaurant and bright, clean rooms.

Hartwell House Restaurant & Spa ★★★★☆

Finally, to inject a bit of luxury into your Aylesbury visit, you could always book a room at Hartwell House. Located in a stunning stately home with beautiful garden surroundings, this place is still only a 6-minute drive from the test centre. While there you can enjoy fine dining, spa facilities and an elegantly decorated room with all the trimmings. Just don’t get so relaxed that you forget about the theory test!

Places to Celebrate

Depending on the result of your test, it could be time for celebrations or commiserations. Either way, we all like to indulge in a bit of food and drink. The town of Aylesbury has plenty to offer in this regard, so be sure to stick around long enough to treat yourself to something nice. Here’s a few places we recommend:

Honey Bee

This place is particularly hard to pass up, given that it’s a mere 4-minute stroll from the test centre. Inside you’ll find everything you need for a quick refresher or even a great night! There’s a pizza kitchen, full bar, pool table and even an ice cream station. What are you waiting for?!

The Snug Bar

If you’re heading back into the centre of town, be sure to pay this charming bar a visit. Selling itself as your “local re-invented”, The Snug offers all the comfort and warmth of your friendly village pub with a few fancy extras thrown in. This means a modern twist on the decor and a particularly tempting cocktail menu. We’ll see you in there!

Temple Street Wine Bar

Another gem of the town centre, the Temple Wine Bar is a nice option for those looking for something slightly fancier than a pub. With cosy interiors and friendly staff, it offers a great atmosphere in which to peruse their considerable wine menu. Be sure to sample something from their great value food menu, too!

What Happens Next?

As you can see, if you select the Aylesbury theory test centre, you should be in for a fuss-free day with the potential for some post-test fun! The above average pass rates and pleasant surroundings are simply a bonus.

Locals will be pleased to learn that they don’t have to travel far for their test—simply book in a Aylesbury practical test centre. There’s also the option of nearby High Wycombe practical test centre.

Starting to worry because you haven’t managed to pass the theory test yet? Do not despair! Plenty of people don’t come out with a pass on their first attempt. The best thing to do is book yourself another test as soon as possible (note that the DVSA requires learners to leave a gap of 3 working days between theory tests). In the meantime, learn from your previous mistakes and put in plenty of revision!

Whatever point you’re at in your driving journey, whether it’s the very start or more than halfway to test standard, PassMeFast has a course that will get you over that finish line.
