What If I Can’t Go To Kingstanding?

There are plenty of practical test centres in the West Midlands. So, if Kingstanding is off the table, why not head to Sutton Coldfield or The Pavilion?

What To Expect On The Day

To make things nice and simple for you, we’re going to give you a full run-through of what will happen on the long-awaited day of your practical. For starters, you need to get to Kingstanding 10 minutes early with your provisional. Your test will then consist of:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

At the end of your test, you’ll park back up at Kingstanding test centre. Not to worry—you’ll get the results of your practical straight away. Regardless of the outcome, you'll be given a feedback sheet which will include any faults you may have accumulated along the way. If you do pass, you'll be able to pose for a great pass photo with your very own test pass certificate.
