How To Get There

Situated at the Aerodrome, Redhill test centre can be found right next to the constantly bustling M23 and East Surrey Hospital. If you want to take a look around the centre before your lessons, simply use these directions to get there hassle-free.

A Bit More About Redhill

Redhill test centre is based in a diverse location. Whilst semi-rural in the area closest to the centre, test routes push candidates further into busy nearby towns like Bletchingley, Nutfield and Reigate. With busy junctions, dual carriageways like the A217 and A23, and tricky roundabouts, learners will have to stay on their toes throughout the driving test. Want more general information about the area of Redhill? Check out the resources below.

Redhill Test Route

Busy scouring the internet for the elusive Redhill test route? For starters, Redhill has only recently been set up—so you wouldn’t be able to find an exact route. Additionally, the DVSA doesn’t publish routes anymore. If you’re learning with a local ADI, you won’t have to worry. They’ll have had you learning the basics on the junctions, one-way systems and other road types most likely to feature on your test, before moving onto the advanced skills. To get a better idea of what to expect, you can also look at videos of Redhill test routes on YouTube.

Redhill Test Pass Rates

Did you know that the DVSA publishes driving test pass rates every few months? That’s how we know that the national average pass rate for the UK is 45.9%. To see it broken down by area, check out our handy guide to driving test pass rates by area. Unfortunately, with Redhill being such a new centre, we only have a pass rate for the last couple of years.

Whilst we might not have much in the way of stats for Redhill, we’ve got plenty for other test centres across the UK. If you’re interested, check out which test centres had the best and worst pass rates in 2017/18.

What If I Can’t Go To Redhill?

If Redhill test centre is no longer an option for you, or you’re in need of a nearby back-up, your closest alternatives are Croydon and Mitcham.

What To Expect On The Day

Once you’ve finished your tuition, you’ll finally be ready to take the last step in your learning journey: the practical test. You’ve not got much to do in terms of preparation, simply head on over to Redhill test centre 10 minutes early with your provisional. As for your practical, it will follow this simple structure:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

Your practical test will end once you’re back at Redhill test centre. The examiner will take a few minutes to complete their marking, then they’ll give you your result—along with written and verbal feedback. If you do end up passing, you’ll also be given a test pass certificate. If you’re planning on posing for a pass photo, it’s the perfect accessory! Wondering when you’ll get your full licence? The examiner will send off for it once you hand over your provisional.

But What If I Fail?

Believe it or not, failing your driving test isn’t the end of the world. Whilst it can be disheartening, the examiner essentially gives you a cheat sheet for the next time around: the feedback sheet. See which areas you picked up faults in and then concentrate on them during your lessons.
