Northallerton Test Route

The DVSA doesn’t publish test routes anymore, but that doesn’t mean you have to worry! You can still watch videos of Northallerton test routes on YouTube or download our sample Northallerton driving test routes. Most routes tend to incorporate the same types of road features—narrow rural roads, busy town roads and challenging roundabouts. What To Expect On The Day

By the time you’ve finished your course, you should be more than familiar with Northallerton test centre and the nearby vicinity. Now all you need to do on the day of your practical is get there 10 minutes early with your provisional licence. The test will proceed with:

  • An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
  • Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
  • Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
  • Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination

You’ll get the results for your practical immediately. Using a feedback sheet, the examiner will walk you through the driving faults you made (unless you're a new member of the Zero Minors club). If you do pass, you'll get your hands on a test pass certificate. You'll also be given the option to send off for your new licence.

But What If I Fail?

Despite what you might think, failing your practical test isn’t the end of the world. While it might be heartbreaking—especially if it’s your first time—you need to keep moving.
