Arriving at Derby Theory Test Centre

By public transport

Derby theory test centre is pretty close to Derby train station, so if you’re happy to travel by train, it'll take you just over 10 minutes on foot to get there.

If trains aren't your thing, you could take a bus to your test instead. From the Mercedes Benz bus stop, it’s only a 6-minute walk to the test centre.

If you require more detailed information about the transport options in this area, browse the Derby City Council website.

By car

Skipping public transport altogether and getting a lift to your test instead? Nice going! Just enter DE24 8GX into a sat nav and follow the directions. Derby itself is a city, so we’d recommend leaving plenty of extra time for your journey to account for the traffic you may encounter around the centre.

Parking

Getting to the theory test is one thing, but finding somewhere for your designated driver to park their car is another task in itself. Theory test centres rarely provide on-site parking, so you’ll need to look for car parks in the surrounding area.

Thankfully for you, PassMeFast has done the research on your behalf! The closest public parking option to the test centre is Pride Park car park (DE24 8BW). It boasts an incredible 1100 spaces and charges £3 for 2 hours of parking. You’ll find it an 18-minute walk away from the test centre.

Pass Rates by Year

A few years ago, the pass rates at Derby theory test centre were well above average. As you can see, though, they’ve recently been in a state of decline. While not terrible, they are just below the national average.

2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 2018-19 2019-20 2020-21 2021-22
49.0% 48.4% 46.9% 45.9% 46.5%  53.4% 53.3%

Chin up! When it comes down to it, statistics like pass rates don’t have much of an impact on learners. The theory test is the same no matter where you take it, which means how you perform on the day is down to you!

Places to Celebrate

When the test is over it’s (hopefully) time to celebrate! There are plenty of venues around Derby where it’s worth taking a pit stop before calling it a day. Check out a few of our favourites:

The Exeter Arms

This place claims to have “the charm of a rural pub in the urban sprawl of Derby city”—and they’re not wrong! It’s a delightful pub that offers cask ales, fine wines and some really delicious food. There’s also a lovely little beer garden out back, which you must visit if the weather’s nice enough!

Rowley’s Gin Bar

Any gin lovers out there will thoroughly enjoy a trip to Rowley’s. They have a vast selection of tasty and intriguing gins to pair with a range of different tonics and botanicals. There’s also free snacks on offer (don’t mind if we do!) and daily deals on all things juniper-based.

The Furnace Inn

This is a pub best suited to people who take their beer seriously. The Furnace Inn specialises in craft keg beers that can be enjoyed in the comfort of the bar or outside in the beer garden. You can even check in online to let everyone know what type of beer you’re enjoying there!
